ABHR_A opens a studio in St Albans
We've opened a new studio in St Albans, bringing ABHR_A closer to clients across Hertfordshire, alongside our work in London
St Albans has a large number of listed buildings and conservation areas, from timber-framed houses around the cathedral to Victorian and Edwardian streets across the city. That suits the way we work. Much of our practice is heritage and conservation: repairing and adapting listed buildings, extending homes in conservation areas, and upgrading period properties to perform better without losing their character.
We already have a project in the city. At Holyrood Crescent we were architects for two new social rent homes on a former garage site.
Where to find us
Fosters Studios, Alban Row 27-31 Verulam Rd, St Albans AL3 4DG
From St Albans we’re looking to take on the same kind of work we’re known for in London: projects where the existing building matters. That includes alterations and extensions to listed buildings, homes in St Albans’ conservation areas, and the sensitive retrofit of period houses to make them warmer, more efficient and better suited to modern life. We’re also keen to work on new homes and smaller public and community projects across Hertfordshire, from one-off houses to schemes for local authorities and housing providers.
Whether it’s a Georgian townhouse in the city centre, a Victorian or Edwardian terrace, or a historic house elsewhere in the county, we’d be glad to hear about it.
