CAMBRIDGE MATHS SCHOOL

The existing building was a collection of buildings that over the years have been amalgamated and added to become a school. The adhoc arrangement required thoughtful re-purposing of spaces and careful consideration of navigation and fire separation around the building. The main challenge was to integrate the necessary equipment to allow the two science labs to function in an existing structure. The design team created cleaver ways to minimize disruption to the existing building fabric to allow new gas, water and extraction to each student position.

We have added and designed new wayfinding throughout the school to improve navigation. The colour scheme reflects the schools distinctive branding. The courtyard was re planned to allow secure bicycle access in town where most arrive by bike. The project was funded by the Department of Education and had to be developed according the their requirements and principles along with the end user.
